Thanksgiving Turkey Cheeseball (Gluten-Free)

November 19, 2019 by Kari @ The Savory Celiac Leave a Comment

Cheeseball shaped to look like a turkey. Pretzel twists and sticks are placed in the back to look like turkey feathers. A few tomatoes on a toothpick make a turkey head. Plate shows crackers and grapes to dip in the cheese.

It’s a turkey. It’s a cheeseball. It’s a turkey cheeseball!! I know that most people bring luxurious, time-consuming, warm and inviting dishes to Thanksgiving. What do I bring? This turkey cheeseball!! It’s cute and kitchy and it’s kind of fun to see my family’s reactions to it every year. 2018 marks nine years that this…

An overhead shot of tator tot hot dish in two individual croquettes. There is a fork in the power right corner and it is on a marble background.

What’s the old saying? When in Minnesota, eat tater tot hot dish! OK, I just made that up. In all seriousness, we do like our hot dish here! Some people might call it casserole but nope, it’s hot dish! 😉 Thank you to my friends at Celiacs Anonymous for featuring this recipe on their site!!…

Grain-Free Raspberry Holiday Star Bread

December 14, 2018 by Kari @ The Savory Celiac Leave a Comment

Overhead shot of a grain-free holiday star bread with raspberry filling.

I take zero credit for coming up with this beautiful design for raspberry holiday star bread. Of course, the original version is made with regular glutenous dough. No surprise that I wanted to see if I could do this in a grain-free version using the Chebe bread mixes. Guys, it worked!! I’ve done some other…

Loco Moco (Gluten-Free/Dairy-Free)

December 2, 2018 by Kari @ The Savory Celiac Leave a Comment

Photo of a loco loco dish on a gray plate with a bowl of rice in the background. A loco loco is white rice, hamburger patty, brown onion gravy, topped with an over-easy egg.

Have you ever been to Hawaii? If so, then I bet you’ve eaten (or at least heard of) a popular local dish called a loco moco! What Is A Loco Moco? Brian and I were married on Maui in 2011 so Hawaii has a very special place in my heart. And one of my all-time…

Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Pie Crust: Apple Pie Recipe

Slice of apple pie with big dollop of whipped cream on top.

Huge shout-out to companies like Trader Joe’s that are making the holidays much easier for us gluten-free folks!!  And allowing me to have a safe apple pie at Thanksgiving! To be honest, I don’t shop at Trader Joe’s to do my regular grocery shopping. I typically go to TJ’s for specific items (hello Everything But…

I’ve been really getting into the pumpkin mood lately. I mean, it is almost Halloween!! That gigantic bag of almonds from Costco has also been staring me in the face and I needed to find something to do with them all! I want to make a quick note about the nuts at Costco. Most (not…

Gluten-Free Ramen Noodle Chicken Salad

June 13, 2018 by Kari @ The Savory Celiac Leave a Comment

I have been craving this ramen noodle salad that we had at parties a lot growing up. Maybe it’s the nice weather and wanting something light with lots of veggies.  I added some grilled chicken breast to this very simple recipe to make it a complete meal. Obviously, those cheap ramen noodle soup packets that…
